Inflammation plays an important role in disease; this species of seaweed contains high levels of gamma-linolenic acid, an omega 3 fatty acid that is known to possess anti-inflammatory activity. This species contains macro and trace elements, all essential for good body and skin health.
Composition:
C. compressa is known to contain a minimum of 22 fatty acids, with relatively high proportions of polyunsaturated fatty acids, omega 3 and 6 oils. Most notably the presence of parinaric acid was determined in 3 different species in one study, that is known to express anti-cancerous activity, with 14% content of gamma-linolenic acid, which has recognised anti-inflammatory activity.
